Blue handwritten Ethiopian Passports may be renewed at the Consulate-General in Melbourne for a further period of five years. The newer red electronic passports must be replaced by blue passports issued by our Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing. Application for these replacement passports must be made through the Consulate in Melbourne.

Passports cannot be renewed if another Citizenship (eg Australian or New Zealand citizenship) has been taken. Applicants may be required to establish that they have not taken another Citizenship.

Ethiopian ID Cards are now available from the Embassy in Beijing, please contact the Consulate in Melbourne for the Application Forms. The cost of each ID card is USD552.
